Oil pastel is a relatively new medium for drawing and painting. Originally created for students in Japan, it became a professional medium when famous artists like Pablo Picasso started using it for works on different surfaces. Oil pastel is a unique medium - neither oil paint nor pastel, but it combines the best qualities of both. You will learn basic techniques for this medium, some basics of flower drawings, and then you'll use oil pastel for creating a blown-up image of a tulip. Each student will complete a drawing on 19"x24" Canson Mi-Teintes paper.
