Town Council CDBG Public Hearing
The Town of Indian Head Town Council will conduct a Public Hearing to obtain the views of citizens on community and economic development projects to be considered for submission in an application to the Maryland Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). Residents will have the opportunity to discuss the proposed project and to provide input on other needs to be considered. The hearing will be held at the at 2:30PM, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, on the GoToMeeting platform. The draft application has been available for the public to review since Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Residents may review the application during normal business hours at the Town Hall, 4195 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. The application is also available for review on the Town’s website, www.townofindianhead.org
Citizens will be furnished with information including but not limited to:
- The amount of CDBG funds available for State Fiscal Year 2023;
- The range of activities that may be undertaken with CDBG funds; and
- The proposed project under consideration by the Town of Indian Head.
The Maryland Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federally funded program designed to assist governments with activities directed toward neighborhood and housing revitalization, economic development, and improved community facilities and services. It is administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development.
The Maryland CDBG Program reflects the State's economic and community development priorities and provides public funds for activities which meet one of the following national objectives, in accordance with the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, that:
- benefit low and moderate income persons and households;
- aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; and
- meet other community development needs of an urgent nature, or that are an immediate threat to community health and welfare.

Any resident who is unable to attend the virtual hearing but would like to submit comments may email them to annie@townofindianhead.org or drop them off at the Town Hall, located at 4195 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, MD 20640 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. All comments will be read under the public comment portion of the public hearing agenda.
